Once the stand is level, place a sheet of polystyrene on the
stand or plywood if used. This will act as a cushion between the tank and the
stand.
Any irregularities on the surface of the stand will create
pressure points on the base of the aquarium. These pressure points will stress
the glass and cause the tank to crack without warning. The polystyrene guards
against this. A few pence spent here may save hundreds of pounds should
disaster strike
